Important information - Upcoming changes to your Terms and Conditions |
We are making some changes that may affect how you bank with us, to ensure our products are up to date and in line with recent laws. Not all of these changes may apply to you, however we are sending you this email as at least one change will affect you. The changes include updates to Personal, Business and Global Markets Terms & Conditions (T&Cs). We are also updating our Data Privacy Notice (DPN) which applies to all customers. |
What changes are Bank of Ireland making? |
We have attached a brochure which summarises all of the changes we’re making to our T&Cs. There are 7 section headings: |
Changes for Personal and Global Markets customers following the Consumer Rights Act 2022 - pages 4-6
Changes for Personal, Business, and Global Markets customers - pages 7-8
Changes to terms and conditions to clarify process relating to ongoing Debit and Credit card payments when a new or replacement card issues - pages 9-10
Changes to Business On Line, 365 online, Personal and Business current accounts, Personal and Business deposit accounts and Personal and Business credit cards conditions - page 11
365 online updates - pages 12-13 Personal current account updates - page 14 Changes to the Bank of Ireland Data Privacy Notice (DPN) - pages 15-16
Please read the brochure carefully. |
Where can I find more details about these changes? |
Full updated T&Cs can be viewed on bankofireland.com by typing “T&Cs” on our website. |
What happens if I don’t want to accept these T&Cs changes in the attached brochure? |
We understand that you may not want to accept these changes. If this is the case, you may choose to close your account or end your service. There is no charge for doing this, as long as you have cleared any outstanding balances, fees or Government Stamp Duty due. If you do not notify us before 08 February 2024 when the changes come into effect, we’ll take this to mean that you have accepted the changes on their effective date. |
How do changes in interest rates affect me? |
We are also taking this opportunity to remind you that following a number of interest rate changes announced by the European Central Bank in recent months, deposit and savings options have changed. You may wish to consider interest-bearing account options available to you (for example regular saver, term or notice deposit options), to maximise interest earned on your deposit or savings balance. You can find out about deposit and savings options, by searching bankofireland.com or ccpc.ie, or by seeking independent advice about your options.

Protect yourself against fraud |
Fraudsters can insert a fake text into a thread of genuine Bank of Ireland text messages, so always be careful. If something doesn’t seem right, don’t click and don’t reply. If someone phones you asking for your banking details, hang up.
To be sure that a BOI text is genuine you can use our free ‘TextChecker’ service. If you receive a text that claims to be from us but you’re not sure if it’s genuine, here’s how to check it: - Copy the text you wish to verify
-
Open a new message
- Add the word CHECK and paste the text in after it in the same message
- Send for free to 50365
Remember Bank of Ireland will never text or email you with a link asking for your one-time-passcode, your full 365 PIN or your full online banking login details.
For more information, please visit the ‘Security and Fraud’ section on our website. |
